What Promises Are We Granted?
What promises are made consciously with our mind (In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) and which are made with our bodies, our gut- which are made with our heart and soul? I’m not sure what exactly speaks to our hearts and souls but it can’t possibly be something transcribed to a sheet of paper.
What does it mean to be reassured that a promise has not been made? When you swore it had- in the combination of things, a communion of objects, in the planting of a garden, the surrender. Have I surrendered too early?
I don’t want the temporary - temporal. I want the eternal. I was already participating in the eternal - The Garden, the communion- these things are without time.
When waiting for these things, these practices - temporality remains. Time loses its integrity amongst the counting, the numbering of days. Only after the marriage and the subsequent consummation and following sacraments (The Garden), is one to practice eternality.
And so, it turns out, the Christian abstinence, practicing, has it right… You must not experience a crumbling of eternity, a heart will be crushed, asunder the weight, the weight that is a lack of and it’s the gaping lightness that brings us to our knees.
